Religion and Violence: III International Summer School, Beyond Secular Faith - Institute of Philosophy Edith Stein

Dr. Aaron Riches

We have extended the application deadline! The third annual Institute for Philosophy Edith Stein annual summer school, Beyond Secular Faith, will explore ways to overcome the limits imposed by the dominant contemporary culture. Held at a villa in the countryside outside of Granada, Spain for one week at the end of June, we will explore this year's theme of the relationship between religion and violence. Are religions accidentally or essentially violent? Or on the contrary, are they or some of them the only authentic sources of peace and reconciliation? However, in discussion with other mayor religions, especially Islam, it is the Christian proposal that will be investigated from a theological, philosophical, sociological and political perspective in the seminars and in the keynote lecture. Extended application deadline, email for more details.
