Position Description:

Father Gabriel Richard High School, a regional, comprehensive, co-ed Catholic high school in Ann Arbor, MI., whose mission is to form Disciples of Jesus Christ in an academic setting, is currently seeking a full time Special Education teacher for the 2016-2017 school year.

Special education teacher will be responsible for working with students with a wide variety of mental, emotional, physical, and learning disabilities. The teacher will adapt lessons and utilize resources to empower a variety of learners, maintain a welcoming, safe and organized classroom environment, and establish high standards of student behavior. The teacher will help to identify students with special needs, teach and mentor students one-on-one, in small groups, and as a class, coordinate and schedule IEP/504 or Official Accommodation Plan meetings, assess student performance, and track the progress of students on their caseload. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining ongoing communication with general education teachers and parents to ensure the success of all students.



The ideal candidate is dynamic, energetic, engaging, compassionate and passionate about the success of all students, especially those with special needs. The applicant ideally will be a practicing Catholic, who believes and is fully and firmly committed to the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Special Education is required. Preference will be given to those with a concentration in math.
