Overview and Responsibilities

Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is seeking a Program Director for the M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy program who is eager to contribute to its Lasallian Catholic mission of awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership. We seek a leader who can ensure program vitality and academic quality by balancing administrative and academic functions that support a rigorous approach to teaching and meeting student learning goals. The person in this role must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution by understanding and supporting the alignment between the Lasallian core principles of Inclusive Community, Respect for All Persons, and Concern for the Poor and Social Justice.







Under the direction of the School Dean, the role is responsible for:







Program Administration – to include syllabi development, establishment of field processes, admissions processes, student orientation, enrollment goal monitoring, student progression/retention, and promoting program value through presentations and community relations

Accreditation - maintaining and staying up to date with accreditation standards.

Faculty Leadership – recruit, hire, orient, evaluate, and develop a roster of well-qualified adjunct faculty

Curriculum Leadership – develop and approve all syllabi for all courses that meet education and accreditation standards, regular program reviews to maintain curricular relevance, implement assessments of student learning initiatives

Professional Development and University Service – advise students on academic requirements, maintain disciplinary expertise and scholarship, contribute to the university governance structure, participate in commencements, convocations, and other university events, serve on task forces and committees.

This position will work on-site on our Minneapolis campus a minimum of three days per week. Following a training period, this position has the possibility of remote work for one or two days per week.



Qualifications

The selected candidate will have the following qualifications:



Master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in discipline related to marriage and family therapy.

Minimum five years clinical experience in marriage and family therapy beyond licensure date required. Holds licensure or is eligible for licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor and American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor.

Have a minimum of three years teaching and advising experience at the graduate level.

Experience working with COAMFTE accreditation standards.

Experience in higher education is preferred which includes teaching, program development. and/or administration.

Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal skills with students, faculty and other professionals in academic settings and with community partners.

Demonstrated commitment to the profession of marriage and family therapy, continuing education in the field, and to serving marginalized populations.

Understanding of nontraditional college student experiences.

Professional decorum and ethical decision-making.

Creation/maintenance of a collegial spirit among students, faculty, and colleagues.

Effective interpersonal and supervisory skills in recruitment, performance management, coaching/counseling.
