We hope you will join us for the 2012 convention of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars on the weekend of September 28-30, 2012. The theme for this conference is Religious Liberty.

Speakers
Our confirmed speakers include:
(1) Raymond Cardinal Burke (Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, Rome) on The Importance of the Difference Between Canon Law and Islamic Sharia
(2) Professor Robert George (Princeton University) on Dignitatis Humanae
(3) Father James Schall, S.J. (Georgetown University) on The Classic Academic Lecture.     
(4) Kyle Duncan (Becket Fund) on Threats to Religious Liberty in the USA
(5) Bill Saunders (Americans United for Life, Washington, DC) will discuss developments regarding freedom of conscience at the state and national levels. 
(6) Thomas Farr (Berkley Center at Georgetown University) panel on International Religious Freedom
(7) Rocco Mimmo (founder and chairman of the Ambrose Centre for Religious Liberty) panel on International Religious Freedom

The program chair is Mr. Bill Saunders, Esq. (American United for Life, Washington, D.C.). He will also discuss developments regarding freedom of conscience at the state and national levels. 

The convention will begin with Mass in the hotel at 2:00pm on Friday, September 28 and will conclude by noon on Sunday, September 30. A complete schedule can be downloaded here. 

Discussion and Presentation Groups
At the Convention there will be opportunities for small group presentations and discussions in various specialties. The basic purpose of this innovation is to encourage dialogue among younger scholars in their areas of specialization with the assistance of more established scholars.  Read more.

The conference will be held at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. Individual room reservations must be made directly through the hotel. Please tell them you are with the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars to receive the group rate. You may reserve a room online at Renaissance Washington, DC reservations. You will need the Group Code felfela. Room reservations must be made by September 7, 2012.

Parking is available for $33/day. 

Meals
Your registration fee includes a full dinner Friday evening, Continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and lunch on Saturday. The Cardinal Wright Banquet and Awards Presentation will be held Saturday evening and is available for an additional fee.

Transportation
Only 6 miles away, the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport - DCA is closest to our convention site. This hotel does not provide shuttle service. However there are several transportation options listed below.
